Fertilaid and Endometriosis

yhst-10669596438250_2268_5389093Hi everyone. Hope you are all having a fantastic week despite all the depressing news going on in Africa in particular and the world in general. Sometimes- especially lately- it does feel like we are in the last days. Not a single day goes by without something horrific happening around us. I don’t even know where to start from about what is going on in my beloved homeland, Nigeria. From Boko Haram to Ebola, the country has been brought to it’s knees and the government is powerless to help. Even the UK has not been left out; the security level has just recently been increased to Severe which is just a step below Critical, the highest security level and it means a terrorist attack is highly likely. lf we are indeed in the last days, all we can do is hold on to God’s Word in Psalm 27:1 -‘The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall l fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall l be afraid?’ The best thing is knowing that no matter what is going on around us, we can always count on Him and be rest assured in His Promise. May God be with you all as you go about your daily lives and may His Grace continue to guide and protect you in all you do in Jesus Name, Amen.

So l was reading Stella Dimoko Korkus’s blog a while ago (her blog is amazing by the way and l simply love her sense of humour which is greatly appreciated in these depressing times) and a blog visitor mentioned something called Fertilaid and how it helped her to conceive. Naturally, my interest was piqued and l decided to carry out some research on it. The reviews were not particularly encouraging especially for women with regular periods but there were some great feedback as well although these were more from the Fertilaid websites. I was more concerned however on how it helped women with endometriosis so l researched fertility forums for real experiences which brings me to the question-what is Fertilaid, anyway-?

Fertilaid is basically a fertility supplement that combines herbal nutrients like chasteberry or vitex(this stimulates ovulation hormones and is helpful for women with irregular periods), red clover(this promotes estrogen production), siberian ginseng(this tone uterine muscles and support healthy uterine function) and ginkgo biloba(this improves blood circulation and also performs a cleansing antioxidant function) along with essential vitamins and minerals like folic acid, vitamins C and E to enhance fertility and increase a woman’s chance of conceiving. Now, this is all well and good but… some reviews have stated that women with regular periods have noticed some irregularity since they have started using Fertilaid. In fact, some have even missed periods for up to 3 months! Others complained that their periods are now longer and even have constant spotting between periods.

Regarding endo, l was particularly concerned about the red clover herb in Fertilaid.  Red clover is a plant which contains hormone like chemicals called isoflavones. These are changed in the body to phytoestrogens which are similar to the hormone estrogen which we all know is basically the ‘fuel’ that ignites the endometriosis ‘fire’  and results in inflammation and growth of endometrial tissue. Hence, l’m afraid this is where l get off the bus on the Fertilaid route which is sad because l actually thought it might be worth a shot. The endo fertility forum reviews were divided; some said their doctors actually recommended it and it worked for a few. Others maintained their doctors insisted it should be avoided at all costs. Still, life is about learning and no one is born with a wealth of knowledge. So please, if Fertilaid has worked for a sister with endo, please share your experience. God bless.

Thanks for reading.

I purchased it and used it for a few months. No pregnancies.. and in fact I think it made things worse for me… At the time of use I had not actually been diagnosed with endo yet. It was a few months after that I had my surgery and was officially diagnosed. But my pain did increase while using it. I also used fertiltea. The fertiltea was nice because it felt like my body detoxed-made me pee a lot.. but it felt as if I was getting rid of the bad in my body.

YI MU CAO & XI XIAN CAO
These herbal remedies are used together in traditional Chinese medicine to remove blockages in the fallopian tubes caused by a variety of reasons. In clinical studies conducted in China, the herbs Yi Mu Cao and Xi Xian Cao proved to clear blocked fallopian tubes within 10 days in most women.

    CINNAMON & PORIA
When it comes to infertility, cinnamon & poria can be used in herbal formulas to bring blood flow to the reproductive organs.

They help in cases of uterine and pelvic congestion causing infertility related to poor blood oxygenation like dysmenorrhea, endometriosis and fibroids.

Cinammon has the ability to regulate blood sugar and stimulate the metabolism. It also strengthens the uterus and for this is known to treat infertility.

    CASTOR OIL
Amongst the different natural methods used for unblocking fallopian tubes is one method that is a wonder. This is the use of oil called Castor oil. It is also used for Menstrual Disorders. So you get it now.

Castor oil therapy helps the fallopian tubes to soften the tissues and increase circulation to the area.
    Red raspberry leaves.

Are known to regulate menstrual cycle because of its content called fragrine which helps tone the uterus. When the uterus is toned, it is more relaxed and it helps the blood flow smoothly preventing too heavy periods.

Dong Quai (Angelica sinensis) is one of the most powerful females tonic and fertility herbs. Used since at least the first century, dong quai tonifies and strengthens the uterus by regulating hormonal control, improving uterine tone, and improving the timing of the menstrual cycle. In Asia dong quai is to women’s health as ginseng is to men’s health.

Royal Jelly is rich in amino acids (29 to be exact), lipids, sugars, some vitamins, fatty acids and most importantly, proteins. It contains ample levels of iron and calcium. Royal Jelly also contains acetylcholine, which is needed to transmit nerve messages from cell to cell. Regular consumption of high-quality Royal Jelly has been shown to help balance hormones. This makes it beneficial to those individuals that suffer from a hormonal imbalance, as it helps to provide support to the endocrine system. It may also help with problems that are related to hormonal imbalance. A study done in Japan and published in 2007 shows that Royal Jelly has the propensity to mimic human estrogen, which may help those that suffer from low estrogen levels. Estrogen is essential for healthy bone formation and healthy gene expression, and is vital for a healthy menstrual cycle. This study also showed potential for increased size of uterine cells in the rats studied. While there may need to be more studies done to show full potential of Royal Jelly consumption on uterine health this is exciting potential for women with weak uterine muscles or thin uterine lining due to long-term hormonal birth control use.

    • Thanks for the info, Ash. However, l beg to differ on Royal Jelly because of estrogen

      • Really? That’s not right. There should be a complaint forum where you can notify the proper authorities depending on where you live. In the UK, there’s Trading Standards. Rogue traders like aliexpress should be brought to book.
