Serrapeptase- The Miracle Enzyme?

81onqBGmE2L._SY355_Hi everyone. Thanks so much for all your encouraging comments and prayers. Thanks also, C for sharing your lVF experience; l know by His Grace, we will also share amazing testimonies together.

This year, l started researching more than ever. There has to be a way to overcome this disease. Okay, so acupuncture might be working for me right now but it’s just helping with the pain. The cyst is still there; l can still feel the odd twinge now and then during my period.  l can’t still sleep on my left side for too long; if l do, l wake up with extreme discomfort from my left arm down to my left foot. Life is not meant to be lived in discomfort or endured; it’s meant to be lived and enjoyed, period. So towards the end of last year and early this year, l prayed and fasted for God’s guidance and direction.

Very recently, l came upon an article on another wordpress blog- HogHugs- about an enzyme supplement called Serrapeptase. This blogger is an inspiration. She suffered from endometriosis, cysts and infertility and decided to fight the disease using diet and supplements. Today, she has 2 kids and her cysts are significantly reduced. Her entire journey is documented in her blog. Please endeavour to look it up. Naturally, l was curious about this drug and decided to do more research on it. Actually, the blogger mentioned other supplements she used like Nattokinase, Liquid Spirulina, Indole-3- Carbinol, Acetyl L-Carnitine etc. I have however decided to study them one at a time so l started with Serrapeptase.

Serrapeptase is a naturally occuring enzyme found in the gut of silkworms. It works by digesting non living tissue, blood clots, cysts and inflammation in all forms. Primarily, it is an anti-inflammatory agent and it seeks out protein debris and waste matter left behind by various inflammatory reactions going on in the body. Hence, it is extremely beneficial for people suffering from any form of chronic inflammation.  It has been used in Asia and Europe for decades and has been classified in the US as a dietary supplement.  lt has been used to treat diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, arterial plaque, Crohn’s disease, fibrocystic breast disease, diabetes and of course, endometriosis. It has also been used to shrink fibroids and even cancerous tumours hence it’s nickname-The Miracle Enzyme. It is known by several other names like serralysin, serratia peptidase, serratio peptidase etc.

So far so good, l thought but how does it help with endometriosis? Through further research, l discovered many positive reviews about how this supplement has unblocked fallopian tubes, decreased endometriomas and most importantly, resulted in natural pregnancies! Serrapeptase also dissolves fibrin in the body. Fibrins are non globular protein involved in the clotting of blood during injury or trauma suffered by a person( in my case, operations to remove endo and cysts). It is essential because it is one of the first steps in the body’s attempt to recover. Scar tissue is made from fibrin and under normal conditions, it should be the final result during typical inflammatory response. However, when inflammation has become prolonged, fibrin can transform original soft tissue into a tough fibrous matrix and this matrix will still maintain biological markers of inflammation like swelling, redness and pain. Serrapeptase helps to dissolve fibrins and reduce swelling and pain.  It also helps to digest adhesions in blocked fallopian tubes which have been damaged by endo and can help shrink endometriomas (cysts).

So those are the pros but as with any drugs, there has to be cons, right? Although there are a lot of research and articles on this supplement, there is still not much known about it’s long term use . Some evidence have shown that it could be harmful to lungs e.g pneumonitis(inflammation of lung tissue). Some reports also mentioned problems with blood thinning. As always with any new drugs, please consult your doctor. There is still more research to be done but my hubby and l are convinced enough to give it a try so we ordered some from Amazon on Monday. It’s called Natures Aid Serrapeptase 80000iu(enteric coating) 90 tablets. lt’s recommended dosage is 1-2 tablets a day on an empty stomach. I’ll start using it from the 1st of February and will be posting it’s effects from time to time.

Thanks for reading.

UPDATE- The Serrapeptase arrived on Thursday and l decided to start using it on Friday, the 31st instead. I’ll increase my dosage on Saturday taking it up to 1tablet 3 times a day which will make it 240000iu in total. I will also start juicing on Sunday ( more on that later)

Hey hon I’m not sure what other products you’ve researched but have you visited They seem to have a lot of natural supplements for fertility and the reviews look good. I recently got their fertility cleanse. Will let u know how it works

    • I will check out the website. Thanks for the tip and pls let me know how it’s working for you.

    • Hi Sis, l’ve checked out the website and it has so many good natural products. One actually caught my eye -coq10 which has been recommended for good egg quality and might even help with diminished ovarian reserve.
This is really useful as l have low AMH like l mentioned in my IVF posts. I thought of DHEA which has really great reviews about boosting egg quality too but after further research, found out that it is not advisable for women with endo as it has a lot of estrogen which makes endo worse. So my best bet is coenzyme q10.
Thanks a lot for the tip, sis. By God’s Grace, all these supplements will work wonders in our bodies and our testimonies will be amazing, Amen.
      Stay blessed!

I just said no more invasive therapies abeg. I will try out their products for 3 mths and see how it goes. Nne amen to your prayers

      • That’s great to know, sis. By His Grace, it will work for us as it worked for the other women who have used it.
        Stay blessed!

There are two types of coenzymes, ubiquinol and ubiquinone. The best form is ubiquinol. I take 100 mg three times daily. It helps to improve egg quality and you have to take it for a minimum of 3 months to see effective results. We all shall overcome infertility in Jesus name. Amen.

      • Amen! Thanks, so much sis for the tip. It’s amazing how much one can learn from sharing experiences and opinions with others.
Will do more research on it.

I also came across HogHugs’ blog while researching about Serrapeptase and Nattokinase. Her blogs contains so much information about treating infertility naturally. I bought both supplements, and have been taking them for the past 2 days. I take the Serrapeptase (Doctor’s Best) 90 minutes before meal twice a day and Nattokinase during meal time. Will take it for a month or two and hope it alleviates my pain.

    • That’s fantastic! We can really compare notes. I’ve just started Serrapeptase too on Friday(yesterday) and will try the dosage l mentioned for a month.
I also read on some forums that Serrapeptase alone can unblock Fallopian tubes and shrink cysts so l’ll try to get an appt for an HSG test to see if my tube is clear n my cyst has shrunk.
Our prayer point everyday now should be that these supplements should work in our bodies as it worked for Hoghugs and other women out there. Stay blessed and keep in touch!

Just wondering if you’ve noticed any improvement and/or side effects from Serrapeptase. I’m looking into this for my sister. She’s been in excruciating pain (stage IV endo). Need to find her other alternatives.

      • Hi Dee, please read through the posts on Serrapeptase eg 8th day, 20 days and 30days on Serrapeptase . Thanks a lot

  4. I’m so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It can be quite shocking and distressful at first to hear such news. However, with God all things are possible. Do not dwell on your present circumstances-relationship, marriage or kids. Concentrate instead on your relationship with God and believe you will overcome this health issue.
Regarding a good gynaecologist in Abuja, a blog sister happened to mention an awesome doctor that helped her sister in law with endo. His name is Dr John ldahosa and his number is 0803 787 9352. Pls give him a call.
